ACCESSIBILITY Welcoming DeafDisabled Individuals to Come Worship with Us
Commitment to Accessibility
Magothy Deaf Church recognizes that DeafDisabled individuals are a part of our faith community and the wider Deaf community. We are committed to being and work towards better accessibility.
What Ways We ARE Accessible
Some of the accessibility we offer includes Gluten-Free Holy Communion, large print bulletins upon request, Gluten-Free and sugar-free refreshments during fellowship hour, an accessible ramp to the sanctuary, walking assistance for individuals with mobility concerns, periodic accessibility audits, accessible bathrooms, pastoral care for grief and struggles with mental health, visitations, handicap parking spots, livestreamed services for individuals who cannot attend in person for medical or other reasons, the use of Audio-Visual equipment, Support Service Providers for DeafBlind individuals, an accessible website, and more.
Accessibility Coordinator
As a part of our commitment to accessibility, we have an Accessibility Coordinator available who is willing and waiting to hear about concerns. If she is unavailable, Rev. Leo is also available.
Raising Disability Awareness
Raising sensitivity and awareness around disabilities is another commitment the church has made towards accessibility. We often have disability awareness-related sermons, as well host a Disability Awareness Sunday service one or more times a year. We also have DeafDisabled individuals assist with and also lead worship and other servant ministries.
